Scalability Without Compromise
SAFplus was architected for scalability from the ground up. Its modular, distributed design enables seamless horizontal scaling across hundreds of compute instances, all operating as a single tightly coupled cluster with low inter-node latency. This architecture ensures that as your system grows, availability and performance characteristics remain consistent — there is no scalability ceiling that forces architectural trade-offs.
Ericsson-LG — Mobility Management Entity (MME) for LTE

To support the scale requirements of the world’s largest carrier networks, Ericsson-LG built its Mobility Management Entity (MME) control node on the SAFplus platform. The MME is a critical LTE network element responsible for managing all mobile device connections and handoffs within a carrier’s network — a function that demands both extreme reliability and the ability to scale across large hardware deployments.
OpenClovis’ SAFplus solution enables Ericsson-LG to deploy up to four full racks of MME chassis, with every blade operating as part of a single, tightly coupled, low-latency cluster. This architecture delivers the throughput and resilience required for nationwide LTE
deployments, while the SAFplus platform handles all cluster management, failover, and in-service upgrade functions transparently.
